This isn't a film for everybody. I think it takes a little age: either having lived it, or having been born with it. It speaks of the redemption that only we can give ourselves; of the understandings that come just a bit, perhaps, too late, but the acceptance that completes us nevertheless. Casting and acting is excellent throughout and it is as filled with points of view as is a perfect chocolate chip, pecan, butterscotch, and raisin oatmeal cookie (think Mrs. Field's for those who know them). It is a film to be enjoyed slowly, and I highly recommend it.

The acting was done well but the story`s point was very subtle and long to get there. Although by the end I did find the main character likable, I did not find myself emotionally involved with any of the characters throughout the story.

Well. This is a convoluted piece of the life of a self-absorbed man of a certain age, with flashbacks that ultimately explain a situation that could leave a viewer both scandalized and sympathetic at the ironies of life. The way this man and woman as youths disentangle themselves, when things were not as right as they wanted them to be, could be seen as self-serving, cruel, or misguided. Ultimately, it's a reminder that, looking back, often as not we have chosen to see ourselves through rose-colored glasses, in prismatic denial until a reality bite shows us what the past really was about. Gifted with that belated awareness, we can choose regret... or self-understanding and forgiveness, turning our emotions toward more constructive actions and focus outward instead of in. It was a lot like peeling an onion skin by skin in its denoument, frankly.

It deals a lot of nostalgia within the movie, overall bittersweet.
